Employability inc. Provider Access

At Kennel Lane School, the Employability strand of our TALENTS curriculum is designed to prepare learners for life beyond school by providing meaningful, realistic experiences of the workplace. We work in partnership with a range of businesses, including Microsoft and 3M, to offer bespoke visits and activities that link directly to our Employability pathways.

Our employability encounters include:

  • Extended work experience placements
  • Workplace visits
  • Online workshops
  • In-school employer sessions

These experiences are tailored to each learner’s stage in their journey at Kennel Lane School.

Careers Education

  • EYFS to lower KS3 learners access targeted careers education via World of Work Days, linked to role play and formal vocational pathways.
  • Learners aged 14–19 follow a differentiated programme through the Sweet Programme.

Additional Opportunities

We also provide access to:

  • Level 7 careers advisor interviews for Years 9, 11, and 13
  • Supported Employment provision
  • Local offer links for Years 11 and 13
  • Employer-led activities and local programmes
  • Our school enterprise business, Green Leaves
  • Volunteering and social action projects

Quality and Standards

Our Careers Programme meets the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks, and we use the Compass tool to monitor progress and plan improvements. Carers / parents, colleagues, and learners are kept informed through newsletters, emails, coffee mornings, and transition fairs run by the Local Authority.

We also work closely with the local Enterprise Coordinator and Enterprise Adviser to increase employer encounters for our learners.

For more details, please see our Careers Long Term Plans.
